The COVID-19 public health emergency highlighted the important role that child care plays in supporting children, families, businesses, and the economy. In response to this crisis, Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP), signed on March 11, 2021. This plan includes $24 billion in child care stabilization grants for states, territories, and Tribes. The goal of these grants is to provide financial relief from the economic burdens child care providers have faced during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lead Agencies can find additional stabilization grant policy guidance on the OCC website.
