Session 2: Role and Responsibility of Licensing in Achieving Equity in the Early Childhood System

The National Center on Early Childhood Quality Assurance (NCECQA) Licensing Professional Development Series is designed exclusively for state and territory licensing staff to hear from guest speakers who are subject matter experts on key topics. This second session, in a series of three, was held on February 10, 2022. The topic, Role and Responsibility of Licensing in Achieving Equity in the Early Childhood System, was presented by guest speakers Dr. Sherri Killins Stewart, Dr. Kelly Maxwell, and Niki Gill Adams, M. Ed. The session provided an overview of equity in the early childhood system and outlined considerations that licensing systems should consider in support of equity. The impact of licensing policies and how they can inform and improve outcomes and support provider relationships was also discussed.
