The Pyramid Model: Supporting Social Emotional Competence and Addressing Challenging Behavior in Young Children

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has affected the child care field in many ways, and Child Care and Development Fund administrators have faced unprecedented leadership challenges. As leaders sort through the many decisions made to aid the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vital to consider strategies to implement social-emotional supports for children and early care and education professionals. Given the increasing levels of trauma and stress caused by the pandemic, now more than ever, the implementation of social-emotional supports as a component of the child care system is essential. This panel featured a brief overview of strategies for social-emotional supports to assist those in the child care field.
