Implementing New Conceptualizations and Measurement of Quality in Early Childhood

This plenary session explored new ways of conceptualizing and measuring quality in early childhood. The session began with context-setting on the state of the research related to how we are conceptualizing and measuring features of quality that have shown promise in supporting children’s developmental and learning outcomes. It then highlighted emerging findings from three research studies with promising options for how to support programs and teachers in achieving changes for key quality features. Although the research from each of these selected studies is still emerging, we hope it will spark discussion and will give state, territory, and Tribal decision-makers information on which they can act to inform their supports and investments in quality improvement.
