During the pandemic, local community providers pioneered Community Learning Hubs to open their doors to support students that are in hybrid or all virtual schooling. The Afterschool Alliance has created this tool kit based on interviews with 32 programs, intermediaries and schools.
The Afterschool Alliance conducted a survey from May 28-June 30, 2020 to explore what afterschool programs are experiencing during the pandemic. The results show that 84 percent of programs are concerned that they will not be able to provide services in the fall due to increased requirements and 61 percent are concerned they may close permanently.
The National Afterschool Association has collected a range of financial planning resources created by the Wallace Foundation that can be helpful for a broad range of nonprofit organizations and also for fiscal management training and college courses.
This toolkit is designed to support professionals at all levels to integrate digital learning into afterschool and summer programs. It includes 9 interactive or text-based modules that explain the importance of digital learning in OST as an issue of equity and access, plus a 16-page brief.
