This report describes the state of afterschool coordination in a set of 75 large U.S. cities seven years after they were first surveyed in 2013. It focuses on three components: a designated coordinating entity, a common data system, and a framework or set of standards for program quality.
The American Institutes for Research updated their landscape scan of state afterschool networks to find out which states have developed various quality supports. The summary shows which states have or are in process with their quality standards, quality assessment tools, core knowledge and competencies, aligned professional development, credential systems, QRIS, and skill-building initiatives.
Based on interviews with 20 experts about strategies to support the child care workforce, this report presents a set of 19 diverse state and local policies strategies to build a stronger and more equitable workforce. This report from National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) examines data from focus groups and interviews conducted with 21 leaders representing 15 national award-winning summer learning programs in September 2020 and data from a survey of 1,047 afterschool and summer providers conducted in partnership with Afterschool Alliance in July and August 2020.
This report covers results of a survey of 1,445 providers between September 28-October 7, 2020. Results indicate that more programs are open now than in the spring or summer, although on average they are serving half the children they were serving last fall. The survey also shows that there is unequal access to afterschool for children from low-income families.
