The Afterschool Alliance's webpage on COVID-19 offers a rich array of resources to help support Out-of-School Time (OST) system builders, administrators, and practitioners in navigating the challenges of the pandemic as they strive to effectively serve children, families, and providers.
The Afterschool Alliance conducted a survey from May 28-June 30, 2020 to explore what afterschool programs are experiencing during the pandemic. The results show that 84 percent of programs are concerned that they will not be able to provide services in the fall due to increased requirements and 61 percent are concerned they may close permanently.
The Afterschool Alliance has collected a number of resources for online learning activities that can be helpful to families or those providing essential services. This webpage includes links to sites such as National Geographic, Scholastic Learn at Home, and Khan Academy. This resource supports the COVID-19 response.
The national Core Knowledge and Competencies (CKC) establish agreement across programs and funding streams about what professionals need to know and be able to do in a quality program. The CKCs were developed through a crosswalk of existing CKCs from states or independent organizations and then piloted.
