In this series of reports, Child Care Aware of America explores child care challenges and how to accelerate needed changes to offer accessible, affordable, and quality care. The first report provides state-by-state information on Supply and Quality Trends. In this first report, some states provide data on the number of school-age only programs or spaces, as well as centers and FCC homes and QRIS participation. The second report looks at Price of Care, and although it doesn't include school-age costs, it captures that the cost of early childhood care is exceeding the rise in inflation.
These State Fact Sheets provide a state-by-state overview of child and family demographics, child care availability, and participation rates in QRIS. School-age state system planners can find information on the number of children and families, available school-age slots, affordability, and number of programs participating in QRIS and at what level.
This website is tracking a number of issues on emergency preparedness relevant to school-age care (SAC) providers, including a new training to prepare for an active shooter, a listserv to share leading practices and resources, mobile texting resources to connect directors with parents, and tracking of severe weather. Some trainings are offered as webinars.
