Child Care Is Key to Our Economic Recovery

The coronavirus has exacerbated the challenges our child care system faces and this issue brief explores what policymakers need to do to strengthen child care both for essential worker families and for all who will need it when the crisis is over. It is estimated that it will cost at least $9.6 billion each month to sustain the supply of care in centers, for family child care and for family, friend, and neighbor care. This resource supports the COVID-19 response.
