Training of Trainers: Strengthening Business Practices for Child Care Providers

National Center on Early Childhood Quality Assurance (ECQA Center) is pleased to offer the National Launch of the Strengthening Business Practices for Child Care Providers Training-of-Trainers series. The ECQA Center is offering train-the-trainer sessions intended to support states, territories, and tribes in meeting the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) program regulation about strategies to strengthen the business practices of child care centers and family child care (FCC) home providers and to improve the supply and quality of services.

Trainers and technical assistance providers are accessing the training-of-trainers. All participants at the training-of-trainers session receive a comprehensive trainer’s guide, which includes extensive trainer notes, handouts, lists of additional online resources, and all necessary activity materials. Participants of the training-of-trainers are able to provide the training in their communities.

The four topics included in the curriculum are:

  • Budgets, projections, and planning
  • Financial reports and internal controls
  • Marketing your program
  • Staff recruitment and retention.

CCDF Administrators are encouraged to share this opportunity with their community child care partners, such as child care resource and referral agencies, technical assistance and training organizations, state-approved trainers, FCC association and network trainers, professional development systems, colleges and universities, Early Head Start–Child Care Partnership staff, organizations that support small businesses, and other stakeholders.
